Our friend Sean planted this vineyard in the heart of Napa with one goal in mind: to make exquisite single-vineyard Chardonnay wines in Oakville. The vineyard spans 32 acres surrounding the estate. The plantings include Old Wente Clones, as well as Chardonnay Clone 809 and Clone 548. This trifecta of Chardonnay vines creates a deep and complex wine. As one of the last vineyards planted to Chardonnay in Oakville, this wine is a special treat.
The wine was fermented and sur lie aged for 11 months in 27% new French oak barrels, 23% neutral oak, and 50% concrete tanks. The resulting wine has a radiant yellow color with a green hue. Tropical aromas of mangos and pineapple followed by vanilla cream, light honey and bee’s wax. Flavors of white peach and passion fruit with bright acidity finishing with elegance.
Service: Serve Chilled. Pair decadently with lobster bisque, ahi poke, tuscan white bean soup, or a huge bowl of buttery popcorn.
