Twelve years in the making, this single vineyard, single vintage, Tawny Port Wine is a work of art. Tempranillo grapes were harvested in 2009 from the sustainably farmed 24K Vineyard in the famous Wahluke Slope of the Columbia Valley. Hand punch-downs of the fruit during fermentation extracted rich flavors and luscious aromas until the wine reached 13 degrees Brix. At this point 169 proof brandy was added to halt the fermentation. The fortified wine then macerated on skins for an additional 48 hours, pressed, settled for two days, and transferred to three French Oak barrels. The wine was topped up only once a year and was not racked during the 141 month ageing process. We bottled this wine, unfined and unfiltered, on August 9th, 2021 in a special 500ml format featuring an embossed bronze "nice" coin label. Delicious now, this wine will also age for 25+ years when stored properly. Serve slightly chilled with creamy cheeses and decadent desserts.
