Our 2020 Loyalty is the 2024 Reserve Class Champion, Double Gold Medal winning wine at Uncorked! Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo International Wine Competition.

Our Loyalty is family-farmed on a single estate vineyard in the midst of winemaking royalty. Throughout Napa Valley, some of the most prestigious red wines are created each year. In the 2020 vintage however, Napa fires, exacerbated by dry conditions and strong winds, ravaged the picturesque region. The fires not only consumed vineyards and residences but delivered a significant blow to the local wine industry. We were lucky to have planted a large plot of Petit Verdot, known in French as “the little green one.” The name tells of it’s late-ripening nature, which is the very thing that proved advantageous in the 2020 vintage, as the fruit set was not present in the smoke. Petit Verdot came in as our heroic component, dominating the majority of this blend. We were able to harvest small amounts of our other varietals untouched by smoke for the remainder of this wine.

The final blend is comprised of 75% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Merlot. Petit Verdot is a Bordeaux varietal that typically comprises only a small percentage of the blend for added tannin, texture, and dark color. Drinking a blend with a large proportion of Petit Verdot is a rare pleasure!

This wine has aromas of dark cocoa and cherry jam with hints of ripe plum, cardamom, and toasted almond toffee. Prime flavor expression will be achieved by decanting this powerful wine for 40 minutes before serving. Be sure to buy a few more bottles to cellar until 2030 before we sell out. We only made 225 cases of this gorgeous red blend. Pair with a well-marbled steak or veiny blue cheeses.
